I’ve been going to the same hairdresser for about four years, and since then, I’ve asked her many questions about making my hair look its best. She is an expert, after all! Last year, I noticed that she and everyone in her salon used a Tangle Teezer on wet hair straight from the sinks. Genuine boar hair contains keratin, and when used in a brush, it can help distribute your scalp’s natural oils throughout your hair, stimulate growth by massaging the scalp and close the cuticle of your hair to make it smoother and look shinier.
The problem is that genuine boar bristle brushes are pretty pricey. The famous Mason Pearson brush retails for about $275! However, I found one on Amazon that’s a boar bristle and nylon combo that’s on sale for less than $40 during Amazon’s October Prime Day sale. Many reviewers say it’s similar to the Mason Pearson one, too.
According to the product description, the SHASH Nylon Boar Bristle Brush is for normal to thick hair. It has a wood handle and comes in three sizes. More than 1,800 Amazon shoppers give it a five-star rating and rave about how great it is at detangling and smoothing their hair.
